About this section
Heidelberg is not exactly overflowing with places to go dancing into the night I'm afraid. There are a number of discos that are open until 3 or 4 in the morning and they are all listed below. In addition to these permanent discos there are often one off events at places like the Karlstorbahnhof featuring well known guest DJs and bands. These are often well worth going to. Check out the events section for more details on current events. Mannheim, the closest large town to Heidelberg has much more on offer for this type of nightlife.
What's on offer
Havana Club
Location: Neckarstaden 24, in the old town, down by the river.

Newish club, replacing the old "Blue Note" (which was a little sad to be honest). Located directly underneath the Havana bar. We haven't had the opportunity to visit the Havana Club so can't really comment too much yet. If you visit, let us know how you get on.

Club 1900
Location: Hauptstr. 117, right in the heart of town

e-heidelberg.com has never actually been to this disco. We've walked past many times, but never been able to drag ourselves in. So we can't really tell you much except it's there and it's open until late. Good luck!

Schwimmbad Musicclub
Location: Tiergartenstr. 13, near the zoo

Pretty big disco, spread across multiple floors - each floor featuring a different type of dance music. Often live music on the ground floor, see the events section for up to date details on what's happening at the Schwimmbad. You will probably need to take a taxi to get home (unless of course you're staying at the youth hostel around the corner - but if you are, you're probably not old enough to be in the Schwimmbad anyway!!)

Nachtschicht
Location: Bergheimerstr 147, near the main train station

The biggest disco in town. If you really want to have a good boogie, this is the place to go. Open until until 3am Wednesday and Thursday and until 4am on other days. On Wednesdays the music is from the 60's, 70's and 80's. Techno normally features at the weekend. Pretty big dance floor and bar area. Often live music - keep an eye on the events section for events coming up at the Nachtschicht. No dress code.
- Monday (every first Monday in the month) - The Wright Thing! Live music from the very international Wright Thing singing mainly soul covers. Very popular and very good. Make sure you get there early.
- Tuesday - special event day, check the events section.
- Wednesday - Yesterday Music - music from the 60's, 70's and 80's.
- Thursday - Strictly Black Music - hip hop, soul, funk, rap and acid-jazz.
- Friday - Heiss & Fettig (hot and greasy?!?) - music from the 80's and 90's (from the last century!)
- Saturday - Clubsound.
- Sunday - special event day.
Open until 3am during the week and 4am at the weekends..

T Club (was Tangente)
Location: Kettengasse 23, just off Marktplatz in the old town

Small late night bar/disco. Sometimes fashionable, sometimes not, but always open until 3am. Sometimes busy and difficult to get into. Quite expensive drinks and a somewhat select clientele.

Mel's on the Marktplatz
Location: on the Marktplatz in the old town
Newly opened bar right in the heart of the old town. It's actually in a cave and has a dance floor as well. Great cheap student prices!
